area was then called Bhringar Grama. Appropriate settlement anyway is said to have been set up by
Lord Ratna Malla.[1] He is said to have built up a settlement of 300 houses with families and

Etymology

The old name of Sunakothi was Bhringar Grama named after the sanctuary of Bhringareshwor Mahadev.
There are two fantasies with respect to how the name 'Sunakothi' appeared

'Sana' alludes to burial service parade in Newari. The town is said to have been occupied by individuals who
aided in burial service works. They subsequently had a social gathering of families or Guthi called Sanaguthi.
As per famous saying, the 'Sunakothi' word developed from 'Sanaguthi'

As per another fantasy, when the neighborhood sanctuary of Swornapur Mandir [Bhringareshwor Mahadev]
was loved wearing a Kush Ring (a ring made out of Roughage), it transformed into a gold ring which means
Sunko Authi in Nepali. A voracious Brahmin (higher position in nepali) so as to accomplish progressively gold
had hit the shiva linga with a hatchet. The harms in the linga can at present be seen. In this way the name of
the spot is said to have step by step changed into Sunakothi from Sunko Authi.

Administrative division

Before the neighborhood level decision hung on 2017 A.D., it was the piece of Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City.
After that it came to be known as Lalitpur Metropolitan City. The wards and territory [toles] they contain are:
